Highly recruited Darien Chase had limited production on offense — one catch for 12 yards and three runs for -2 yards. El Cerrito, which is located just north of Berkeley, Calif., is ranked No. 19 in the Bay Area by the San Jose Mercury. The Gauchos are coming off a big loss to Rancho Cotate of Rohnert Park, Calif. El Cerrito have a trio of players being recruited. Makai Polk, a senior athlete, just made a visit to Arizona and also is considering California, Oregon State and Colorado. Franklin Banks, a 360-pound defensive lineman, is getting looks from Cal and San Jose State. Safety Daego Albert also made the San Francisco Chronicle’s list of top 50 Bay Area recruits. The Gauchos have size and speed, but lack depth. They only took 25 players to Rohnert Park last week, and the team wore down in the second half.
