Aggregate state boys basketball rankings, Jan. 18

So it appears that there will be no Associated Press state basketball rankings this year after a fifth attempt to get enough statewide members of the media fell short.

As an alternative, we offer these aggregate state rankings, which use rankings of three media outlets …. so sort of media rankings.

And this week we’ve added another poll for the boys — the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association.

Now these rankings are made up of eight different state rankings: RPI, Tacoma News Tribune, Seattle Times, MaxPreps (which is different from RPI), Score Czar, Evans Rankings, The Columbian and the WIBCA. We put them together into an aggregate ranking, based off a 10-9-8-etc voting system.

Here’s what they looked like for boys rankings in Class 4A through 1A. Only seven votes were cast in 2A and 1A as the Seattle Times does not rank teams in those classes.
