GAME NOTES: Sumner was the No. 3 team from the South Puget Sound League. The league went 3-1 in Week 10 playoffs, with Olympia losing to No. 1 Woodinville 28-7. The Spartans lost to Graham-Kapowsin (34-28) and Puyallup (45-25). But since then, they have won five in a row by an average margin of 43-11. Sumner lost to Camas in the 4A semifinals last season. QB Luke Ross has passed for 1,780 yards and 24 TDs. Tre Weed (880 yards, 5 TDs) and Ben Wilson (841 yards, 4 TDs) have led the ground game. Weed is the top receiver with 41 catches and 556 yards and 11 TDs. Wilson, a linebacker, leads the defense. He has committed to play for TCU. Weed returned an interception 70 yards for a TD as Sumner built on a 21-7 halftime lead against Hazen. Union led Tahoma 41-0 at halftime last week. The Titans were the 4A Greater St. Helens League champion. Union has won seven in a row since its lone loss of the season to Eastside Catholic. Union QB Lincoln Victor has passed for 1,704 yards and 22 TDs. He’s also rushed for 439 yards. JoJo Siofele led the team in rushing with 775 yards and 9 TDs. He left last week’s game early with an ankle injury that the team said was not serious. Elijah Jones filled in nicely with 86 yards against Tahoma. Darien Chase is the top receiver with 41 catches for 990 yards and 12 TDs. Union’s defense held Tahoma to 74 yards in the first half last week.
