Prep football preview: Kelso (8-2) vs. Meadowdale (8-2)

LAST WEEK: Kelso beat Seattle Prep 19-14; Meadowdale beat Lakeside 50-46.

GAME NOTES: Kelso was the runner-up in the 3A Greater St. Helens League. The Hilanders have held nine of its 10 opponents to 14 points or fewer. Kelso is led by lineman Colten Johnson, the 3A GSHL defensive player of the year. RB Max McDaniel leads the team in rushing with 968 yards and 14 TDs. QB A.J. Hoggatt has passed for 586 yards and 7 TD. Kelso plays good defense and doesn’t make mistakes on offense. Meadowdale was the champion of the 3A Wesco South Division. QB Drew Tingstad has passed for 2,583 yards and 23 TDs. RB Kela Marshall has rushed for 1,064 yards and 12 TDs, including 172 last week. Haelin Roberts is the top receiver with 38 catches for 885 yards and 7 TDs. The Mavericks dominated Lakeside statistically, outgaining them 641-322. But Lakeside had a 91-yard TD pass play and an 82-yard TD pass play on a flanker pass. Meadowdale also threw two interceptions, one which was returned for a score. Meadowdale lost its regualar-season finale two weeks ago to Snohomish 56-35 despite gaining 640 yards on offense.
