Prep athlete of the week nominees 2/18

Nominees for The Columbian’s prep athlete of the week for the week of Feb. 11-16.

BRITNI ATWELL, HERITAGE GYMNASTICS: Atwell won the Class 4A all-around title at the state meet in Tacoma as well as state titles on the vault and floor exercise. She also placed second on the beam and third on the bars.

KASEY CALWELL, CAMAS BOYS SWIMMING: Calwell was a four-event finalist at the Class 4A state meet, placing fourth in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke and swimming on two relays.

TYLER COPP, UNION BOYS BASKETBALL: Copp scored 18, 20 and 28 points in Union’s three games in the 4A bi-district tournament (22 point average) as the Titans fell just short of advancing to the 4A regionals.

MCKENNA MULDER, WOODLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL: Mulder had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a regional-clinching win over La Center and averaged 17 points in the Beavers’ three games in the 2A district tournament.

ANTHONY THOMAS, EVERGREEN WRESTLING: Thomas wrestled to a runner-up finish at 170 pounds at the Class 4A state championships, including a win by pin and a 10-0 victory.
