Prep athlete of the week nominees 1/28

Nominees for The Columbian’s prep athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 21-26. Athletes are limited to one nomination during the regular season.

JOEY BOMERS, HUDSON’S BAY WRESTLING: Bomers won two matches by pins one at 195 pounds, one at 220 pounds in a pair of league duals as Bay earned a share of the 3A Greater St. Helens League title.

PORSCHE CHARTRAND, CAMAS GIRLS BOWLING: Chartrand bowled games of 205, 198 and 226 for a 629 series to win the Class 4A district championship by five pins.

ROBERT FRANKS, EVERGREEN BOYS BASKETBALL: Franks scored 24 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, in a win over Heritage, then added 15 points and nine rebounds against Camas as Evergreen remained in first place in the 4A GSHL.

JARON HAMLIK, PRAIRIE BOYS SWIMMING: Hamlik posted a pair of Class 3A state-qualifying times in winning the 200 individual medley (2:00.35) and 100 backstroke (54.66) at the Southwest Washington Invitational in Longview.

MEGAN LINDSLEY, PRAIRIE GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lindsley had 11 points against Fort Vancouver and 16 points, five rebounds and five assist points against Columbia River as Prairie clinched another 3A GSHL title .
