Saturday (3/24) prep highlights

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Heritage’s Sean Keller opened his 2012 season by winning the javelin throw at the Tiger Invitational in Battle Ground with a throw of 230 feet, 7 inches. The mark was the second-best of his high school career. In other events, Camas’ Zack Marshall won the 100 (11.15 seconds) and 200 meters (22.75) and Woodland’s Zach Lacey won the shot put (48-11 1/4) and discus (145-6).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Alexa Efraimson broke the Camas High School record for the 800 meters in her first high school meet, winning the event at the Tiger Invitational in 2:17.52. Other notable winners were Heritage’s Tee Martin in the 100 (12.34 seconds) and 200 (26.32); Union’s Alexa Fuller in the 1,600 (5:14.14) and 3,200 (11:22.34); Prairie’s John McEllrath in the shot put (40-4) and discus (130-8); and Mountain View’s Kathran Dean in the long jump (17-7 1/4) and triple jump (36-10 3/4).

BASEBALL

Heritage 12, Evergreen 3: Tyler Raskin went 2 for 4 with a home run and pitched the Timberwolves to their first win of the season in a 4A Greater St. Helens League game.

Camas 8, Hudson’s Bay 2: Jace Schumacher went 3 for 3 with a double and Austin Barr belted a two-run home run for the Papermakers in a 3A Greater St. Helens League game.

Prairie 11, Fort Vancouver 0: Nick Gawley went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBI for the Falcons.

Battle Ground 15, Washougal 1: Ian Humphrey was 3 for 6 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored, and Lucas Walker was 2 for 5 with a double, RBI and run scored in a non-league win for the Tigers.

SOFTBALL

Washougal 14-16, Stevenson 4-3: Madison Baldwin went 7 for 7 with two doubles and 4 RBI, and Brooke Croeni was 5 for 8 with a home run, triple and 4 RBI in a non-league doubleheader sweep for the Panthers.

BOYS SOCCER

Washougal 2, Columbia River 1: Michael Wright had an assist and the go-ahead goal in the second half to send the Panthers to a 6-1 start to the season after a non-league win.
