Madison all-state in Oregon

Stephen Madison, who moved to Portland from Vancouver for his senior year of high school, was named to Oregon’s Class 5A all-state boys basketball team.

Madison, who played for Prairie through his junior season, averaged better than 18 points and six rebounds per game, helping Jefferson win a state championship.

“The things that stood out were the accuracy on his shot, his athleticism, and he has legit size. He could dunk on guys as much as he would shoot threes,” Jefferson coach Pat Strickland told The Oregonian.

Terrence Jones, a teammate of Madison’s, was selected as the state player of the year.

Closer to home, the all-state ballots for Washington have been sent out to media members across the state.

As far as The Columbian, we will publish our All-Region teams from winter sports soon after completing our series of spring sports previews.
