Ducks, Huskies, And The Play That Won't Die

Washington plays at Oregon tonight, which, of course, invokes thoughts of the most memorable play in Ducks football history. It’s memorable because Oregon keeps showing it on the video board prior to every game.

It has been 18 years now since Kenny Wheaton’s game-clinching Pick Six against Washington. Which led Damon Huard — the man who threw the interception — to say on Northwest Cable News that Oregon should give it a rest.

He’s probably right, but that part of Huard’s comment is not included in this video on the NWCN Web site, even though the headline and the text advertise that he talks about his 1994 interception.

Huard, understandably, is tired of being reminded of The Pick. But he’s probably even more embarrassed by his lack of effort to tackle Wheaton. Here, watch the clip again and watch how Huard bails on the play when he has a clear shot at Wheaton.

And then, just for kicks and giggles, watch this one and get ready for Huskies at Ducks.
