Rick Browne is looking for a few writers to help put together Ridgefield Living magazine, which will debut in August.

He’d like to find people who love to write but have no outlet. He can’t pay them in dollars but will publish their names with their stories, helping them build a portfolio as it were, and will involve them in many of the social events where he invites residents and businesses to restaurants, wineries, salons, and other fun places.

He would like to get folks to help with the following sections:  Precious Pets – People Who Make a Difference (local people who do tons of volunteer work) – Local Travelers (writing about their own travels) – Meet Your New Neighbors (profiles of families who are new residents) – Recipe of the Month (perfect spot for a foodie writer) – Ridgefield Events (4th of July, Ocktoberfest, Big Paddle, Farmers Market, etc.) – also folks interested in discovering and writing short features about interesting jobs/businesses/long-time residents/community happenings.

Starting with the first issue, set for Aug. 5th, there will be a monthly photo contest involving the Wildlife Refuge. Photographers are invited to submit their photos of the scenes and critters on either of the Ridgefield refuges. Every month they will select four images, with prizes for each of the winners. At the end of the year they’re planning a desk calendar which will be for sale, with most of the proceeds funneled back to the Friends of the Refuge for their projects. Send in 300dpi .jpgs no larger than 9MB. Photographers need to submit their images ASAP as the entries will be judged in mid-June.
