Ridgefield Promotes Main Street Program

Frank Shuman and others have started a campaign to make improvements to the downtown Ridgefield area, through the Main Street Program.

Main Street Programs have been implemented in over 1200 cities and towns in over 40 states, used to successfully revitalize the economic downtown base.  Building a cohesive team of interested parties including business and property owners, citizens, historic preservationists, entrepreneurs, and public officials is vital to accomplishing this.  The intent is to promote a vibrant downtown featuring events like the 4th of July Parade, Hometown Celebration, Farmers Market and Bird Fest to name a few. Our goal is to develop and enhance the look and feel of our historic buildings, rehabilitate streets and our image, promoting investment of private dollars.  All this involves developing long-term solutions of supporting existing merchants and creatively encouraging new business.

Join us at Sportsman’s Restaurant and Lounge the third Thursday in January 8:30 to 9:30 am to began work on the Ridgefield Main Street Program.

The time for talk about the Ridgefield Main Street Project has now passed and we have moved into our time for action.  If you are planning on being involved please take a moment right now to mark your calendar with the following three dates: 1/16, 2/20 & 3/20/14.   We will meet from 8:30 to 9:30 at the Sportsman’s Restaurant & Lounge.

Our goal for the first meeting is simple but critical.  We need to secure individuals for several key positions. Additionally we will review the “MSP” document outlining how we might model successful Main Street Programs.  Once these first steps are completed we can establish early goals and develop an action plan.

If you know people who you think would be interested in following along with our progress please encourage them to sign up for our email updates here.

If you have a person in mind you know would be an asset to our efforts please invite them to join us on the 16th.  Once they attend it will become self-evident if they feel like it will be a worthwhile investment of time.
