Wesley Matthews’ future with the Trail Blazers is an uncertain one. But he showed everyone yesterday that he’s taken a big step towards his recovery from a torn achilles tendon. Matthews posted an instagram video of him taking, and making, step-back 3-pointers at UCLA.

Matthews has taken jumpers before in front of the cameras but this time he did so without a walking boot. Matthews told reporters at exit interviews and at other media stops along the way that he is targeting to be back to playing basketball by August.

We don’t know whether he did anymore than just taking a few jumpers but considering that recovery is about taking things step by step, this seems like a pretty big accomplishment. And noticing by his caption, Matthews was very excited as well.
