Blazers replace Chalupa with Sausage Egg McMuffin

Aside from the roster changes, how they will fit and the new defense, there was one more unknown on the minds of Trail Blazers fans: what would replace the Chalupa 100-point promotion? For 13 years, the Trail Blazers and Taco Bell teamed up for a promotion that led to chants and reactions as if the team had won the NBA Finals. Now the Rip City faithful have their answer in the McDonald’s Sausage Egg McMuffin.

Instead of “cha-lu-pa,” the Trail Blazers are encouraging fans to chant “mick-e-dees” as part of the team’s new promotion with McDonald’s.

It will be interesting to see how fans will embrace the new promotion when the team is approaching 100 points. However, for those attending the preseason games such as tonight’s against the Clippers, don’t bust out your “mick-e-dees” chants just yet.  The promotion will not officially start until the first regular season home game on November 2nd against the San Antonio Spurs.

In the press release, the Trail Blazers also added that if the team scores 100 points in the first game of the promotion, they will give an additional McMuffin voucher.
