In today’s non-surprising endorsement news, Democratic candidate for the 3rd Congressional District Carolyn Long has earned the support of Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash. Long is running against Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground.

“People in Southwest Washington deserve a leader like Carolyn Long who will work in a truly bipartisan fashion to look after the interests of hard-working middle class families rather than the profits of corporations and shareholders. Carolyn will be a smart, passionate advocate in the other Washington who will stand up to the Trump Administration and fight for affordable healthcare, family wage jobs, apprenticeships, affordable housing, and the funding our schools need to give our students a quality education,” Cantwell said in a press release. “Having taught at WSU Vancouver for over 20 years shaping the lives of generations of students, Carolyn understands her community and knows what it will take to make Southwest Washington thrive. We must send Carolyn to Congress as the next Representative from the 3rd District. I look forward to partnering with her to strengthen Southwest Washington.”

Long already has the support of Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. and numerous other national organizations.

“I’m proud to have the confidence of a dedicated public servant like Senator Cantwell who has spent years serving the families of Southwest Washington,” Long said in a press release. “I know Senator Cantwell will be a reliable ally in the Senate as we work together to bring my community the federal resources we need to improve the lives of working people from Goldendale to Ilwaco.”
